Furr and I

Furr is a strong, aggressive, mean competitor who has no fear on the soccer field. Not afraid of going after every single ball whether she knows she’ll get it not, and overall outrunning and attacking every girl in sight. Not afraid to dive into a huge pile of mud to get a shot on goal for girls varsity soccer and dive tackle her opponents. Sweating profusely, hair messy and uncontrolled, and grass stains smeared all over her white BCDS jersey. While, I am the nice and polite girl who enjoys dressing up and and going shopping. I am a caring person who never intends to harm others, and always cares about those around me.

While Furr is the one who people fear and are scared to be close to, I am the welcoming girl in which other people enjoy being around. While I consistently meet new people, Furr is driving others away.

Map Project

This project, was one of the most difficult in my opinion. It was hard for me to choose a characteristic that describes me well, and a feature of my body, and tie them both together to form a map of "me." I finally decided that I'm very supportive and caring towards other people, so I thought the hands shaking was a strong way to represent those. Then, I chose four characteristics of me, and represented them in lines and shapes inside the hands. If I had time, I would have added more detail to the picture, but for now, I like how it turned out!

Candy Project

The candy project was one of my favorite projects we did this term. For me, I'm much better at drawing from observation, then drawing from imagination, so this came easier for me. However, I had a hard time making the licorice look realistic, and painting on the wrapper. It took a lot of hard work and determination to get the colors just right each time I went over them, and to add the shadows to each item. I think my final project was a success!

Place Project

For this project, I decided to draw my families boat in Falmouth, Cape Cod. My family and I spend all our summers on our boat, almost every day, and we've shared so many laughs and memories on it. I tried using a variety of bright colors on and around the boat, and keep to soft and serene colors everywhere else. One of the hardest parts I struggled with in this project was the wake. Also I wish I could have made the boat look more like my actual boat; bigger and different colors. Otherwise, I think I did a really good job on this project and I'm glad I spent a lot of time on it!

Headlining Project

"Snowbirds dress up for a climate change"

At first, when I chose my quote, I pictured actual birds flying into a colder habitat. However, once I looked up what snowbirds were, I learned they are actually a type of plane. I was completely confused! However, once I got another opinion as to what snowbirds were, from Ms. Roberts, I decided to draw people. I worked extremely hard trying to get the body, face, clothing, and hair on each person to look realistic, considering I've never drawn people in previous classes. I think I did a great job for my first time! I could have added more detail to the background, and if I had more time I would have spent it on getting the faces to look more life-like. I really enjoyed this project!

Artist-in-Residence: Alexander DeMaria

After looking over Alexanders art, I got really inspired. I think he creates really creative and original pictures, that not many people would be able to do as well as him. The colors he uses and the places he chooses to draw/paint are so cool. He uses his imagination and new places to create the art he does. I know for my project I'm really going to need to use my imagination, which is definitely not my best talent. However, after viewing his work, I know a lot more about what I need to do for my project, and I'm excited to start. I also can't wait to hear Alex talk about his work, and learn more about it.
